The Workshop Technical Program Committee is pleased to invite the submission of ABSTRACTS (up to 2 pages) and LETTERS (up to 5 pages). For a graphical summary of the distinct handling processes for these two submission types, please see the bottom of this page.
Letter submissions are intended for presenting original theoretical and/or experimental work and tutorial expositions of permanent reference value, and will be rigorously reviewed for publication in a Special Issue of IEEE Transactions on Molecular, Biological, and Multi-Scale Communications (T-MBMC). Letters accepted for the Workshop will be shared with workshop attendees (but NOT publicly posted), and after the Workshop, authors will submit a revised letter to the same T-MBMC Special Issue (second round journal submission). Presentation at the Workshop is required for special-issue eligibility. Additional details can be found below.
Abstract submissions are intended for summarizing work-in-progress or recently published research. Accepted abstracts will be revised and posted on the workshop website. They will NOT be considered for the Special Issue; authors wishing to publish in the Special Issue should submit a Letter instead (see above).
All submissions should fall within at least one of the following three core thematic areas:
- Theme 1 – Fundamental Molecular Communication: This theme focuses on leveraging communication theory to either model the behavior of living systems or to design and analyze artificial molecular communication system.
- Theme 2 – Applications of Molecular Communication: This theme focuses on applications in biomedical, biological, environmental, and industrial engineering. These can include natural signaling, health monitoring, and drug delivery, among others.
- Theme 3 – Molecular Communication Testbeds: This theme focuses on simulation tools and techniques and experimental methods.

Letter Submission
Letter submissions should follow the IEEE double-column format for Transactions journals and be submitted as a single PDF file. Letters are limited to 5 pages including figures and references.
Templates can be downloaded using the IEEE Template Selector:
- Select “Transactions, Journals and Letters” as the publication type
- Select “IEEE Transactions on Molecular, Biological, and Multi-Scale Communications” as the publication
Initial Letter submission is to be made directly to the IEEE Author Portal. You will need an IEEE Author Portal account if you do not already have one. Please select the “Molecular Communication Workshop Special Issue” during submission.
Submitted Letters will undergo peer review as coordinated by the TPC. All Letter submissions accepted as Letters for the Workshop will be deemed to have passed the first round of review for publication in the T-MBMC Special Issue.

- Submissions can be made here: Submission Link
- To be accepted as a Letter for the Workshop, it must meet the quality standard of T-MBMC (read more here).
- Letters accepted for the Workshop should be revised and submitted by the authors to T-MBMC using IEEE Author Portal. The deadline for revised submissions (May 15, 2026) is after the Workshop to give authors time to revise their Letters as needed.
- Revised Letters must include a response to reviewers and a cover letter indicating submission to the “Molecular Communication Workshop Special Issue.” Revised letters will be treated as second-round submissions to T-MBMC.
- “No show” letters that are not presented at the Workshop will be excluded from the T-MBMC Special Issue.
- Letters rejected by the Workshop review process may be offered presentation as an Abstract; such works will be posted on the Workshop website and will not be considered for the Special Issue.
